PS3 Price drop confirmed ?

Sony confirmed today that the rumours from US retailers about a PS3 Price drop are true. As of July 9, the PlayStation 3's North American Pricing will take a drop to $499 in the US and $549 in Canada , This will bring it in line with the Discontinued 20gb model

So far Sony have said the price drop is for North America only.

"This news does not affect any other PS3 territory,"

said Dave Karraker, Sony Computer Entertainment America.

The price drop announcement has brought even more unexpected news to the table

The 80gb PS3 that was ( until now ) only available in South Korea will be hitting North American Shores , that system will release in August for $599

Now that looks like a steep climb ... $100 extra dollars for 20gb of HDD space , but they pull another cat out of the hat by also announcing that the System will be bundled Motorstorm ( Currently retailing at $59.99 )
