Ok we need to go back about a week Sony announced their price drop on the PS3 in the US to -
$499 for the 60Gb Model
and $599 for the 80Gb Model
No on the surface that looks quite a good deal and anyone that isn't really looking into the Price Cuts wouldnt know any different it just looks like a great deal ...
Until you watch this Video ...
Ken Harai CLEARLY says they are no longer making the 60GB Model ... So what does this mean ... Well not a lot ... Sony are getting rid of the 60Gb PS3 and changing to an 80Gb PS3 for the same price ... Looks a good deal ? Well no its not ...
Is 20Gb worth of extra HDD space really worth $100 ?
So in the video Ken clearly states the 60Gb model is NOT being made anymore ...
Now Sony are back-pedalling and claiming the 60Gb version ( At $499 ) Will be available for the "foreseeable future"
Now what does this statement mean ... Foreseeable Future ... That is true , as they have still got 60Gb in stores ready for sale , yes it will be available BUT as the are only making 80Gb Models , That "Foreseeable Future" will only be a couple of months ...
So we come full circle ... Sony are indeed playing people for Mugs , People think they are getting more bang for their buck when in actual fact you will be getting less ! There will be no emotion chip in the New 80Gb Models , Does it really cost $100 to add an extra 20Gb of HDD Space and will bundling a First Party game really mean a loss to Sony ...
My answer is no ... And I leave this post with the simple question ... are you a Mug ?
