Ok so this is one that I don't normally get , I was working on Customer Services when I had a guy come in with a Nintendo Wii that kept saying , Disk unreadable ...
So that was written on a piece of paper and then I asked the customer if he wanted it sent off for repair , To which i was surprised to realise he was Deaf ...
Now I have dealt with a few Deaf customers on Tills which is relatively easy , BUT I haven't done a repair on an item with / for a deaf person ...
So we start doing the repair note and the Customer wanted the Wii sent out to his house when we get it back in as he couldn't make it back to store , Unfortunately we can't do that as it's too high risk and if it goes missing / gets damaged in the post , we're not liable ...
So we came to a comprimise (through a lot of writing down sentences to communicate) that when it comes back into store I will take the Item to the Customers home and get him to sign and hand over the Wii ...
This actually made my day go a lot better than what it normally does , Normally it gets monotonous doing the same thing but this brought with it a whole new challenge that I thought I would be prepared for but until you actually do it you don't see how complex it can be ...
This gave me an insight into just how difficult it can be for a Deaf person whilst out shopping and going about things that would normally be pretty easy to do , I'm glad I actually got to deal with the customer as it opened my eyes and gave me some experience in a situation I wouldn't normally be in ...
