One of the Wierdest F1 Races ive ever seen ...

Well this is a new one to me , I have never seen an F1 race started under a Safety Car ...

Over at the Fuji race track is pouring down with rain ... So Charlie Whiting decided the only way to start the race is under Safety Car condition with Extreme Wet Tyres ...

So we started the race and did about 18 laps behind the safety car , and waiting to see if the track becomes safe to race , I cannot fault Charlie for doing that , the best way to do it ...

He then lets the one and only back marker (Liuzzi) he then put a respectable lap time in (About 6 seconds off a Dry time) Everyone is thinking that Charlie did that to see if it is safe to start the race ...

The Decision is then made to start the race , Hamilton backs the pack up , let the Safety Car go and then because he is in 1st place he takes over as the safety car , then we see some extraordinary events of sportsman ship with Hamilton and Alonso playing a game of chicken ... This was done with Hamilton making some quick bursts then braking (Just like warming up the tyres) to try and psyche out Alonso , Alonso obviously responds every time with lightning quick drops of the Accelerator just in case it was Hamilton dropping the hammer ...

There were a few incidents because of poor visibility but they were only very minor ...

We got to the Pit stops and Alonso came in first from being only 3 seconds behind Hamilton , Alonso then comes out into traffic , Hamilton then came in the next lap and came out before the traffic , what a difference 3 seconds makes !

We are now green flagged and all is racing ....

On a side note , Ferrari "Apparently" didn't get the message about the Extreme Wet Tyres behind safety car rule and started both cars with Intermediates ...

On my opinion , there is NO WAY on this earth that Ferrari didn't know the rule , they were trying a crafty one !

Ferrari have done that before and it wouldn't surprise me is they were trying it again ...

You ark , "Why run Intermediates instead of Extreme Wets ?" Well this goes down to a few things ...

1. The people on Extreme Wets will be clearing the water from the track and so you "Shouldn't" be able to lose the car (Although we saw the Ferrari's going off the track) ...

2. It will favour you as if the race then starts when the track is dry enough for Inters you will have the advantage of them working in the conditions whereas the Extreme Wets will just Overheat , Bobble and Degrade ...

Of Course it's worth the risk as if you get caught (Like they did) all you need to do is play dumb , come in , fill the tank right up , get the Extreme Wets on and wait for the Safety Car to go in and reap the rewards as everyone needs to come in for fuel ...

**BIG UPDATE**

Alonso has just spun (We Believed via an Aquaplane (Where the car just floats on top of the water)) and he is now out of the race ...

Hamilton is in the lead at the moment , He's got 23 laps to go and IF he finishes the race now he will extend the points gap from 2 to 12 !

*Update*

We are now behind another Safety Car , Sebastian Vettel has just ran into the back of Mark Webber from the sister car and has now put them both out of the race ..
