Why do some people even bother ! Part 2 of the onslaught !

Ok so I have now been doing some "Research" on this , and by research I mean about 10 mins of Reading, Modder Extrordinare Ben Heck had the same problem when making the 360 Laptop that the CPU Heatsink was too tall so being a proper modder and having some brains Ben reworked a new Heatsink at half the size and added some fans to help the cooling ...

Now from the "Pics" of the "Modded PS3 360" you can see the Heat sync is too big ... Easy use Ben's method and you have just made room to fit in the DVD Drive above the CPU.

Now the Modder that did the slot loading 360 (Coincidentally from the Ben Heck Forums) used an iMac slot loading DVD Drive then replaced the innards of the 360 drive to make it work with the 360, this methor actually means the DVD drive will overall be thinner in any case, it was then just a case of making a transistor board to recognise everything...

So we have made room for the DVD Drive to sit where the PS3's original one would, so that is sorted, Now Ben has put the USB's in various places whilst making the Laptops/Portable 360's SO ... We know we can move the USB's to the bottom left of the Face to fit in with where there are already slots for the PS3 ... Now I was thinking you could put the Memory Card slots to the left hole that would be left by the card readers (Obviously this would mean it would need an older 40GB Case to have the lift up door (Or you could just make your own ... )) this would mean the Memory Card slots are kept hidden to keep the PS3's clean look ...

So we have moved the Memory Card Slots, the DVD Drive the USB's all we need to do now is put the HDD on, now I would be making the unit as a Horizontally placed unit thus meaning that you wuld be able to add an external HDD Drive that is removeable like the 360 is now (If It was a vertical unit the HDD would then sit on the bottom so not good). I would dis-assemble the left side case of the PS3 and re-make it to fit an xbox 360 HDD onto the side of it.

To Finish off you will be looking at the Fans you have 2 or 3 new fans to compensate for the reworked Heat sink, I would then add 2 or 3 bigger fans on the back (Where they would normally sit) to make the air flow a little better I would also see if I can add some fans to the right hand side of the case to pull in some air ...

Now I have thought and written this in about 15 mins, to call your "Mod" succesful and the "First PS360" you need to have it looking good, I myself would be ashamed of that as a "Mod" !

This tempts me to go out buy a PS3 case and make a PS360 with my spare 360 that actually works how it should but I feel I lack the neccesary knowledge/ability to do it ...
