Getting some more of my tattoo done Saturday

Some of you may know that I have had a tattoo done (I will post a Pick a bit later on) ... Well ... Its not finished yet , I have had the Rose finished off but I still need the Tribal Finished

The tribal is going to be in Black , Blue and White ...

This although looking nice will hurt ... With a normal tattoo , the tattooist normally goes about 4 layers into the skin , With White ink they go in at least 8 layers , this is to preserve the colour as you go out in the sun and to help stop fading ...

So ... The question that i get asked a lot ( and its mainly down to the size ) "Did it hurt ?" ...

Well my answer to this is a 2 part one ...

1st , Overall , so far ( Without the White) No , It didn't hurt for me...

2nd , It all depends on where you get a tattoo , Different areas of your Body have different amounts of nerve endings , A lot of people say that around the belly button is the most sensitive area ...

I have had mine done on my Upper left arm , There are a few sensitive parts that my tattooist have hit that are slightly painful ...

So ... What does it feel like ? ...

The best way to describe it is that it's like an annoying itch ...

If you haven't had a Tattoo before you will have probably heard the horror stories when people say the pain is unbearable etc ...

Its not , I was quite anxious when I first went to get the outline done of this tattoo thinking its gunna be horribly painful but its not the case ...

What helps stop the pain , anxiety ?

As said before its not really pain ...

There are a few things that can help if you do find it painful though ...

First and Foremost is get the right tattooist , a lot of tattooists are just in it for the money and dont care about their customers , Dismiss them straight away ! Remember it's your money and more importantly your body they are working on , This is pretty much a permanent thing so make sure you shop around before settling on a tattooist ...

A good tattooist will talk to you about your design / ideas and tell you what will work and what wont , You also want a tattooist that will talk to you and be open about what he is doing , If you are anxious , chatting to him / her whilst they work can settle that very quickly ...

How can People enjoy the pain ?

People have different pain thresholds so a lot of people cant take having tattoo ... BUT I enjoy it ...

It's a weird feeling to describe , But Dan (One of my team leaders in work (His brother is actually my tattooist)) has lots of tattoos so far and he enjoys the pain and uses it as a stress release ...

I thought he was crazy when he first told me but now after having some done , i see what he means ... It is actually quite relaxing when done correctly can feel nice after a while ...
