Sony under fire after Price Cut

Sony has been hit with some heavy fire from consumers over their plans to stop manufacturing the 60Gb version of the Playstation 3 console , Just over a week after their initial announcement that they were dropping the Price of the 60Gb version by $100 in the US. The announcement's mean there will only be an 80Gb model in the US priced at $599 , Sony spoke out on Tuesday and said it would have "ample supplies" for the foreseeable future

But the Move has angered a lot of potential consumers with angry rants on various gaming sites across the internet , Analysts have stated that the the decision to speak freely about the phasing out of the 60Gb will more than likely Shift purchasing decisions , with Consumers just waiting for the price drop on the 80Gb version

KBC Securities analyst Hiroshi Kamide has stated : "Both Sony and Microsoft are likely to cut prices by Christmas" , "If there are too many variations of the PS3 out there, it would likely confuse consumers in any case and Sony wants to streamline its models."

The announcement has came just as the time Sony is trying to shift the negative feelings and perceptions around the console ready for the critical Holiday season

Although Sony haven't announced the 80Gb model in Japan and Europe yet , An announcement is expected fairly soon...
